Pastor Mike's Fundraising Ideas!!!
Fundraising can be difficult, so here are some ideas to help raise money for your youth group.
The Trusted Fundraisers:
-Bake Sale: Does your church have a bunch of great bakers? Put them to work! Advertise in your community and bring in lots of baked goods… BOOM.
-Dessert Auction: Same idea, have parishioners make dessert items and do a live auction. We do this every year and make over $2000 every time. Huckleberry desserts go for A LOT!
-Yard Sale: I know what you’re thinking… “But it’s so much work.” It is, but again it’s money off of items that are donated. Tell the church to do some spring cleaning! Start bringing things in. ADVERTISE! Our yard sale brings in a few thousand every year.
-Car Wash: Find a local business with high visibility to allow you to do a community, donation only, car wash. Yes, there are costs for towels, soap, sponges etc., but a group can make some money if this is done on a warm day and you are hard workers.
-Flamingo Flocking Fundraiser: Purchase 10 pink plastic flamingos (lawn decorations). Pick 10 yards in your community to be the lucky recipients. Attach cards to the flamingoes’ necks with a phone number along with all the pertinent information regarding your group. State that for a $10 donation, the flamingos will be removed but for $15 they will be moved to the lawn of their choice. Make sure you also place a sign that has a contact name and phone number among the flamingos for those who drive by and would like to have the flamingos placed in a friend’s yard. OUT OF THE BOX Fundraisers:
-Variety Show and Auction: Do you have talented people in your church? Put them on stage! Sell tickets to a variety show. Sell popcorn and snacks. Find a funny MC and have some fun! Gather donated items from local businesses and have an auction at intermission.
-Harvest Dinner: Have people from the congregation donate their favorite soups and desserts. Buy some fancy bread and sell tickets to the Harvest Dinner. You could make the entertainment a fun variety show, or bring in a speaker to talk about Jesus. Have the teens dress nicely and serve the people.
-Gun Raffle: Ok this might be a bit controversial, but in areas that have lots of sport shooters and hunters this is a big money maker! Have a local gun store run a gun raffle. They sometimes will even donate the guns! Or the youth group can purchase them, understanding there is a risk that they may not make as much money. But once it’s organized, have the teens sell raffle tickets.
-Quilt Raffle: Same idea, only warmer.
Honorable Mentions:
-Spaghetti Dinner
-Pancake Breakfast
-Workers Auction: Auction off kids to work for a set number of hours.
-World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser: *Caution. The “selling” fundraisers can bring in big money, but it relies on the seller. You can lose money with these.
-Parent’s Night Out
-Three on Three Basketball Tournament
